The Stillman Quick Weight Loss Diet was designed by Dr. Irwin Stillman in the 1960s – there are conflicting reports as to whether it was early sixties or late sixties, but that part really doesn’t matter.

The following foods are allowed on the program:

• Lean meats

• Chicken or turkey, skin removed

• Lean fish or shellfish

• Eggs, prepared with no oils

• Cottage cheese or other cheeses made with skim milk, and only in moderation

• Chicken or Beef broth

• Artificially sweetened gelatin, only 1 or 2 servings per day

• Herbs and spices

• Catsup, cocktail sauces – only if they contain no fat, used in moderation

• Unsweetened coffee, tea or other no calorie beverage

You must take a multivitamin each day and drink 8 glasses of water in addition to any coffee, tea or other no calorie beverage. Because there is no fiber in this diet, you may also want a fiber supplement and/or a stool softener.

Maintenance on the Stillman Quick Weight Loss Diet

The weight loss on theStillman Quick Weight Loss Diet was to be followed by a milder version of the plan called Stay Slim Eating which was for maintenance. During the Stay Slim Eating portion of the plan, you add carbohydrates and fats back into your diet slowly to determine how many carbs and how much fat you can consume without gaining weight. If you detect a 3 pound weight gain on the scale, then you will have to go back to the no carb phase again for a short period of time in order to remain trim.

The Stillman Quick Weight Loss Diet isn’t for someone who wants a lot of variety, but it will help you to lose weight quickly.

The initial weight loss does keep you motivated to continue and good losses are typically seen each and every week.
